The center offers a wide range of services, including cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship programs. (July 16, 2024) — Fox Chase Cancer Center has earned national rankings of 33 in cancer and 19 in urology among the country’s top 50 hospitals in the 2024-2025 Best Hospitals rankings from U.S. News & World Report.
“This news is significant because it represents a notable upward trend in our cancer ranking — from 42 last year and 57 in 2022 — while our local competitors have seen decreases. Our urology ranking reflects the continued strength we possess in both urology and urologic oncology as well as our steady growth in these areas of service,” said Robert Uzzo, MD, MBA, FACS, President and CEO. Fox Chase was also nationally recognized as “High Performing” in gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery.
“Our advancement in these rankings reflects the hard work and commitment to our mission that our people demonstrate every day and I’d like to congratulate them on this outstanding achievement. We will continue to excel in what we do to provide our brand of compassionate care to our patients and their families,” Uzzo said.
Known for its well-regarded “Best” series of consumer guides, U.S. News releases rankings in various categories for Best Hospitals annually. These guides are designed to help patients determine which hospitals provide the best care for the most serious or complicated medical conditions and procedures.
Best Hospitals resonates with consumers who look to the rankings to inform and reinforce their healthcare decisions. These rankings also help bolster the national reputations of the institutions listed, closely linking their brands with the expectation of world-class care. “For us, the rankings validate something we already know well: Fox Chase Cancer Center is a special place, renowned nationally for its expertise in all aspects of cancer care, with highly skilled and dedicated faculty and staff,” Uzzo said.
While the reputation score — based on a national survey that asks physicians to rate institutions — is an important aspect of the rankings, many other factors are considered, including specific services offered, patient safety measures, Magnet nursing status, quality of patient experience, and selected outcomes metrics.
