Jason Walker
President
British American Business Council of Greater Philadelphia

Dear BABCPHL Members and Friends,

Happy New Year! I am Jason Walker, Managing Partner of Cross Border Financial Planning USA LLC, and newly appointed President of the BABCPHL. I am pleased to introduce myself and discuss some exciting plans for the BABCPHL in 2025.

I joined the BABCPHL a decade ago after moving to Philadelphia from the UK, where I was born and raised. When I started my business, the BABCPHL helped me make valuable connections and grow through exposure to the Greater Philadelphia business community. It is an honor to serve as your new President, and I look forward to helping the Organization continue to deliver meaningful content and offer commercial connections for members as we navigate 2025 and beyond. There is a lot in store!

HUMAN INTEREST FEATURE

From Pints to Partnerships: The Role of Pubs in Philadelphia & The UK

Written by: Mackenzie Sutton, Coordinator, British American Business Council of Greater Philadelphia

The City of Philadelphia and London are global hubs for international business and trade. Traditionally, negotiations take place, and deals are struck in board and conference rooms, however, business is also conducted in local bars and restaurants. In both places, pubs are more than just watering holes—they are social institutions that bring people together. While Americans may not match the legendary drinking stamina of the British, Philadelphia's vibrant scene certainly holds its own. With over 4,000 bars and pubs across the city it's a haven for sports fans, beer enthusiasts, and anyone looking to socialize. From corner taverns to craft breweries, there's a spot for everyone in the Philly region.

MIND THE GAP

Global mobility has been a cornerstone of corporate culture since the post-Cold War era, with businesses increasingly operating across borders. Today, international expansion is more prominent than ever.

Trivia:

As the UK and US continue to strengthen their transatlantic ties and establish global offices, what percentage of British companies rank the US as their top destination for global expansion?

The first person to submit the correct answer to babc@babcphl.com will receive one complimentary ticket to our Winter International Business Networking Reception: PHL Celebrates Centuries of International Business taking place on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.
