Doing Business in the U.S.: What All Businesses Need to Know
Each new year brings a sense of hope, energy and opportunity. For all businesses, that means a renewed focus on growth. That often means going global. Organizations decide to be global for a combination of reasons — access to new markets; diversification; to gain a competitive edge. Sometimes an organization's first step into an international market is at the beckoning of a leading customer's request.
Indeed, the opportunity to grow top-line revenues, achieve greater economies of scale and strengthen the overall enterprise is great. However, as we look at the changing landscape of global trade, we see that it's not what globalization and global pressures will do for an organization but what it'll do to them if they don't properly prepare, plan and adapt.
Baker Tilly understands change is a trigger for growth-minded organizations to evaluate their strategies and the tactics that follow. In this article we offer a road map to guide companies looking to do business in the U.S.

HUMAN INTEREST FEATURE
New 'Express' Transatlantic Sea Freight Service
Written by: BABCPHL Corporate Member MetroShipping and GreenWorldwide
One of the UK's largest privately-owned freight forwarders, Metro has been supporting Transatlantic trade with the United States in air and sea freight services since our inception nearly 50 years ago.
We are particularly proud of our long-standing association with Philadelphia, which is why we are so pleased that our new in-house 'Express' transatlantic sea freight service calls directly at PhilaPort, as well as New York, Norfolk and Jacksonville.
The weekly USX service by group company, Ellerman City Liners is supported by our own offices and delivers some of the fastest transit times available — direct to Philadelphia from just 13 days — and because it utilises non-congested ports and terminals, port clearance and inland movements are seamless too.

MIND THE GAP
There are believed to be more than 100 different types of beer all over the world. The two most well known varieties are Ales and Lagers. This can be determined by the type of yeast that is used during the fermentation process. Ales are made with yeast that ferments at the top, and Lagers are made with yeast that ferments at the bottom of the beer mixture. This is not the only factor that contributes to the definition of a type of beer. Others include the region of origin, ingredients, appearance, and brewing method.
Trivia:
What was the leading brand for Lager sales in the United Kingdom in 2022?
The first person to submit the correct answer to babc@babcphl.com will receive one complimentary ticket to International Networking @ Yards Brewery — The Path to High Impact Business & Successful Entrepreneurial Activities event, taking place on Thursday, February 8, 2024.
