  • Kleinbard's Matthew Haverstick to Serve on Panel at College Athletes' Rights & Empowerment (CARE) Conference

    Kleinbard LLC litigation partner, Matthew Haverstick, will serve as a panelist at the College Athletes’ Rights & Empowerment (CARE) Conference: Visioning a New Paradigm of College Sport hosted by Drexel University’s Department of Sport Management from March 24-26 2016. The conference is designed to examine the rights of college athletes more closely and whether those rights are protected. Haverstick’s program will take place on Saturday, March 26, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Drexel’s Gerri C. LeBow Hall and will cover college athletes, the NCAA and due process.

    Haverstick and his team recently represented Pennsylvania Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman in successfully suing the NCAA to revoke the NCAA's "Consent Decree" and all accompanying punishments on Penn State University, and in defending the constitutionality of a state law directing the NCAA's unprecedented $60 million fine of Penn State to fund child abuse programs in Pennsylvania.

  • Kleinbard's Eric Schreiner Appointed to the Philadelphia Leadership Council of the American Red Cross

    Eric Schreiner, a partner in Kleinbard LLC’s Litigation Department and Practice Leader of the Firm’s Employment Group, was recently appointed to serve on the Philadelphia Leadership Council of the American Red Cross.

    Members of the Philadelphia Leadership Council are executive volunteers who serve as stewards of American Red Cross’ mission and vision by offering support of the Eastern PA region locally in Philadelphia County. This is largely accomplished by serving on the committee for an annual fundraising event, participating in a variety of awareness activities, and by serving the Region and the Red Cross’ team of volunteers that respond to disasters in Philadelphia County.

    Schreiner concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, employment law, and insurance coverage.

    Kleinbard litigation attorneys, Mark Seiberling and Joshua Voss, will present a CLE program entitled: Pennsylvania’s Right-to-Know Law and Third Party Records: How Private Records Become Public on April 19, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. The seminar will be presented by Drexel's Thomas R. Kline School of Law Alumni Network and will take place at 3320 Market Street, Room 140.

    This CLE will guide attorneys through the Right-to-Know Law from the perspective of how it applies to records of private, third parties. It will demonstrate the basic process of the RTKL, how the RTKL implicates third party records, the appeals process for third parties, areas of concern for third parties, and provide tips and suggestions for third parties who wish to keep their private records private when dealing with public agencies.

    Kleinbard partner, Mary Beth H. Gray, was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of Emerge Pennsylvania. Founded in 2015, Emerge Pennsylvania is a new political leadership training program for Democratic women in Pennsylvania. Its mission is to identify, train, and inspire Democratic women to pursue public office at the local, state and national levels. Emerge Pennsylvania is part of Emerge America, a national network currently working in fourteen states.

    Gray is a partner in Kleinbard LLC’s Business and Finance Department. She practices in the areas of mergers and acquisitions (representing sellers and buyers), corporate finance, corporate governance, corporate restructuring, and executive compensation. Her practice has a special focus on business succession, including the sale of businesses to employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) and other transactions involving ESOPs. Gray was named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in the area of Mergers & Acquisitions in 2014 and 2015.
